You can have the coolest idea for a new app or the most informative blog, but if no one knows about it, it won’t make any difference. Here are five quick and easy ideas on getting the world to know about your new website, blog or app.
Write and Distribute a Press Release
Public Relations is about the oldest form of marketing and maybe the least expensive too. There are a few resources to help you get started. Our favorite is PRWeb. Using this service allows you to issue a press release that will be distributed to every major search engine, national news site and over 30,000 journalists and bloggers. It’s relatively inexpensive and typically generates clear spikes in traffic.
Get Someone To Write About You
Another approach is to use a reporter’s repository like Help a Reporter Out (HARO). Here journalists, bloggers and news outlets can post a topic they would like to write about, and you can answer their call by providing information on your brand.
People don’t hate ads, they hate ads that have nothing to do with them. Sending out a blanket email or direct mailer to just any address you can find is not a good way to convert leads to customers.
To find an audience for your launch use Twitter to help you. Find a popular account in your target market, view the list of their followers and find each of their websites on their profile pages. Most websites have contact information that you can collect. This process can be difficult and time consuming so there are apps that automate the process for you. We love BuzzStream. Using it allows you to automatically search a website for all contact information and immediately store it into a contact list that you can use later.
Build An Email List Long Before You Launch, Then Use It
As soon as possible, create a landing page with a very clear, concise description of your product or service. Ask visitors to provide their email address to receive updates on your progress and a notification when you launch. Share the link to your landing page on social media. Prospective customers who have shown an interest in what you have to offer have a much higher conversion rate than cold leads.
Partner With Another Business
Building strategic partnerships can increase exposure and lend credibility to your brand. Find organizations that cater to your target audience and offer to give promo codes and discounts to their customers. You can also offer to create content marketing links to their webiste if they do the same for you.
The internet is full of start-ups just like yours, fighting to get their idea across to the right people. It’s a competitive market. The most important thing you can do is stick with it. Keep trying new ideas to spread the word. If you have a product or service that can solve problems for people don’t give up. If you really believe in what you have to offer, eventually others will too.
